Behöver man säga mer?

Rough Bunnies - You Make Me Happy
I have this thing for lo-fi. The more homemade and cheap it sounds, the more I love it. I don’t know why, it might be the old DIY- and fanzine-geek within me that springs forth and laughs like a maniac in rush of mania.
Rough Bunnies’ songs are basic. The melody is spotty, and the singing as a bit on the untrained side. When I dabble myself in recording music it never gets to be this good though. (My singing is somewhat limited in range as well as other… eh, difficulties.) I could post excellent songs with Rough Bunnies here all week if I wanted to.

The Fine Arts Showcase — Lakeside Drugs
And I just want to finally race from this feeling.
Still I’ll debate surrender to the hollow
The album Gustaf Kjellvander Proudly Presents the Fine Arts Showcase & the Electric Pavilion might be the finest power pop ever recorded in Sweden. Might, because who really knows? It’s damn good though. Just as their live shows, although you don’t really notice the showmanship of the bass player unless it’s live.

Bakers At Dawn - Ancestor Contest
Slow, easy and pretty. There are millions of words to describe the beautiful melancholy of “Ancestor Contest”, but none of them are powerful enough to really get to you like the song does when you actually listen to it.Three minutes and seventeen seconds of pure delight is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.

The Tallest Man on Earth — It Will Follow the Rain
Should I be honest here? I should, shouldn’t I? So. I was reluctant at first when I heard about this tall guy. (Sorry L, but it gets better, promise.) The dreaded words “I heard him on the radio” from a friend didn’t help, neither did the fact that he gave the wrong name. But I looked and then I listened, after a while. I can be kind of slow sometimes and things just lie there waiting – sometimes for months. And I liked what I heard.
His voice sounds like it’s been dusted and dragged through the Colorado desert, but it’äs abit more than that. It’s one of those voices that’s pretty hard to describe in words. His fingerpicking is, well, far superior to mine. I suspect the last is far easier to pull off than the first be he does both really well. Damn well. Add being a storyteller lyricist to that and… It’s good. More should listen and those of us who already do need to listen a bit more I think.
So why not start at the beginning? With the first song from the debut EP.
